Allan Webster Sullivan

Allan Webster Sullivan (42) passed away at Sentara Norfolk General on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. Allan was born at Depaul Hospital in Norfolk. “Al,” his friends called him, grew up in Portsmouth and attended Churchland High School. Al was a talented music lover; he played drums and several wind instruments. For three years, he was a member of the Noodles country band, which, in the late nineties, was selected as the Country Music Band of the Year for the state of Virginia. In high school, Al was a marching band member and served as the drum major for three years. Also, in high school, he was a member of the National Honor Society and was captain of the tennis team. He finished high school courses early and attended Tidewater Community College to complete many freshman-year college courses. Following high school, Al received a scholarship and attended Virginia Tech; he graduated with a BA in 2004. Allan was employed by Old Point Bank and served as a Special Assets Officer. Before joining Old Point, he worked with other financial institutions in Hampton Roads and was a local commercial real estate consultant. As an employee of Old Point, he was nominated and selected for enrollment into the three-year Virginia Bankers School of Bank Management at the University of Virginia. He often shared with his family and colleagues his enjoyment of the first year of participation and the opportunity to continue to learn and grow professionally. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Allan will be remembered for his Hokie pride, kindness, and sense of humor. Allan was an avid sports fan and a dedicated supporter of the Virginia Tech Hokies. During football season, he could always find a college or professional game to watch. He also enjoyed playing golf with his friends and watching professional golf. He loved dogs, especially his friend’s pit bulls, for which he loved to “dog sit.” He rarely missed nightly Jeopardy and enjoyed Trivia and playing cards with his friends. Allan is survived by his parents, Webster Paschal Sullivan, Jr, and Laurie Aden Fahl; uncles Broaddus James Sullivan, William Allan Aden (Nancy), Jack Sharp Aden (Nancy); and aunt Patricia Sullivan Farrell. Numerous cousins and many lifelong friends also survive al. He is predeceased by his grandparents, Webster Paschal Sullivan, Estelle Powell Sullivan, Allan Sharp Aden, and Nancy White Aden. His family and friends will greatly miss him. There will be a visitation with family and friends on Monday, February 19th, from 4-6 PM at Loving Funeral Home, 3225 Academy Avenue, Portsmouth, Virginia. His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 20th, at Centenary United Methodist Church, 3312 Cedar Lane, Portsmouth, Virginia, at 3:00 PM. Burial will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the Hope for Life Rescue (an animal rescue and no-kill facility in Va. Beach) or any no-kill animal shelter you choose.
