Charles Terwilliger, Jr.

Charles R. Terwilliger Jr., 73, passed away at his home in Chesapeake, Virginia on October 26, 2019. He is survived by his wife, Ellen Terwilliger "Honey" of 53 years, his two children, Rusty Terwilliger (Mary Terwilliger), and Beth Vallejos (Jesse Vallejos), his three grandchildren, Jessica Vallejos, Keith Vallejos, and Jacob Terwilliger, and two baby girls who stole his heart, Adalyna May and Aubrey Silver. He is also survived by his brothers, Bill Terwilliger and Victor Terwilliger, his brother-in-law, James Godwin (Phyllis Godwin) and his sisters-in-law, Nancy Lowry (Ray Lowry), Lou Blankenship, Delores Willis "Boot", and Carol May "Sugar", and a host of nieces and nephews and family friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Terwilliger Sr., his mother, Mary A. Terwilliger, and his brothers, Eddie Terwilliger and Jimmy Terwilliger. He was also preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Lila M. Godwin, his sister-in-law, Patricia A. Hathaway, and his brother-in-law and best friend, Chester C. May. Charles was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict. He loved his family and almost every person he met. Charles was an incredible husband, father, grandfather, and best friend. He had the biggest heart and when someone was in need, he was the first person to lend a hand or place to stay. He enjoyed playing bingo at the Portsmouth Moose Lodge 898, bowling, fishing, and spending time with his family. He never missed an event his children or grandchildren were a part of. He was always seen in the front row with the biggest smile on his face and tears in his eyes. The family would like to thank everyone who cared for him in his final days, including Grace Hospice and the wonderful ladies of Chesapeake General Hospital. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at Loving Funeral Home in Portsmouth at 10 AM. Followed by a ceremony at Albert G. Horton Jr Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at Loving Funeral Home in Portsmouth from 6:30-7:30 PM.
