Colleen Carol Morse

Colleen Carol Morse, age 35 of Virginia Beach, passed away on Sunday, April 8 at 4 PM unexpectedly at DePaul Hospital in Norfolk. Colleen was born at Portsmouth Naval Hospital. She was the beloved daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dale James and Carol Cofield Morse of Portsmouth. Other survivors include her Sister, Heather Johnson and Brother-in-law, Brent Johnson of Virginia Beach; Grandparents, James Morse and Doris Morse of Hampton; Aunt Janet Creeley of Suffolk; Aunt Debbie Kreisler of Camilus, NY; Cousin Jason Cofield of Colonial Heights; Cousin Lee Cofield of Portsmouth; Cousin Jory Creeley of Fort Lewis, WA; and Cousin Eric Kreisler of Camilus, NY. Colleen attended Alliance Christian high school in Portsmouth and while in attendance was the captain of the Falcons cheering squad, played softball and was elected to the Homecoming Court. Upon graduating from high school, Colleen chose to stay close to home and attend Old Dominion University in Norfolk, where she graduated with honors and was a proud Alpha Xi Delta sorority sister. After graduation she was immediately employed by Gumenick Properties. During her 14 years there, she worked at several locations starting out as a leasing agent and was promoted into property management. Colleen was a very hard worker and enjoyed having a close personal relationship with her co-workers and tenants. She loved to travel and was very fortunate to experience traveling with her family in England, Scotland, France, Switzerland, Germany and a number of islands in the Caribbean. One of her favorite memories was a trip to Jamaica for Spring Break with her sister. Colleen was a beautiful young woman both inside and out. She had an extremely giving heart and always expressed that she was happiest when helping others. She participated in many charity events, raising money for the Children’s Hospital of the Kings Daughters and the American Cancer Society. Her enormous appetite for learning developed into a fondness for watching documentaries, visiting historical sites, ancient ruins, and hiking nature trails. Being an animal lover, she loved playing with pets and visiting wildlife preserves. She had a gift for bringing love and laughter to her family and many friends. She never knew a stranger and spread joy wherever she went. Her quick wit and unique sense of humor always made her the life of whatever event she was attending. Although Colleen had a short time on earth, she was able to live an extraordinary and beautiful life with the time that the Lord gave her. Her family is comforted to know she had a strong faith and will be waiting to greet us on the other side. The family will receive friends in Loving Funeral Home, Friday from 7-8pm. A memorial service will be held at 11am Saturday Centenary United Methodist Church 3312 Cedar Lane Portsmouth, VA 23703, Donations may be made to the Oasis Society, 800 Williamsburg Ave. # A, Portsmouth, VA 23704. Even in her passing she was able to continue giving to others, she gave the gift of a better life to many others through organ donation
