Eugene North, Sr.

Eugene North, Sr., 82, passed away Friday, May 10, 2013. He was the son of the late Alifair Smallwood North and Felix North. Eugene is survived by his wife, Soledad M. North; sons, Gary, Gene, Rick and Samuel North; a daughter, Terry North Shackelford; 12 stepchildren, Frank and Elaine Zamora, Alfred and Arlene Toves, David and Marilynn Jualin, Darlene Fejerang, Jorge and Doreen Cortez, Jolane Kirtley, Richard and Charlynn Toves, Charles and Jean Wright, Christine Fejerang, Joey and Jocelynn Campos, Clarissa and Thomas Fejerang III, and Tomas Fejerang IV; seven grandchildren, Amanda, Jason, Heather, Lindsey, Jake, Cole and Hunter; three great grandchildren, Abigail, Olivia and Thomas; sisters, Ruby Powers and Roselee Brock. A Funeral service with Chaplain Dave Mooneyham will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Loving Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be private. With sincere gratitude and appreciation to all: There has been such a great outpouring of love and support extended to me after the loss of my beloved husband, the late Eugene North, Sr. I would like to take the opportunity to express my gratitude to the many who have helped me though this difficult time. I want to express my most heart-felt thanks to all for the professional and sensitive treatment of our family throughout this entire process dealing with the passing of my husband, Eugene. I know that you worked diligently to ensure that all went well during the time of his pain and suffering. You have a very special way to make people feel cared for and supported, just like family. Your suggestions and organization helped to make the entire process somewhat bearable. Our loss and the reality of it, is just setting in — sometimes I feel it gets harder every day. I do take comfort in knowing we gave my husband the best ending possible, thanks to all your support. David Loving and Barbara Loving of Loving Funeral Home and staff, they coordinated a graveside memorial that honored both my husband's life and his passing. You were most helpful at guiding us through the funeral process, answering all of our questions, and making sure that everything was handled efficiently and in a friendly manner. Your handling of the viewing, service and interment was very professionally done yet so sensitive to our needs and wishes. It comforted us to know we were receiving the best of service during this very stressful, confusing and traumatic time for our families. You led us through everything with such an easy manner and softened the difficult times we were experiencing and giving me the strength to endure while waiting for my family to arrive. I could not have done it alone. Thank you for caring over and above the responsibilities of your profession. To the military chaplain, Dave Mooneyham and The United States Army Honor Guard members who presented our country's flag, who played the haunting refrain of Taps, sincere gratitude for your touching tribute to a good soldier and a great man. And to my family, friends and neighbors for their endless daily love and support while sharing the same grief, and all others, too many to name, for all of the calls, flowers and cards.
