Lynn Tomlin

Rosalyn McCoy Tomlin affectionally known as Lynn was the daughter of the late William Taft McCoy and Hattie Colclough, born in Alcolu, South Carolina. Upon the untimely passing of her mother Lynn’s father and his family stepped in and assisted him in raising his infant daughter. Lynn was reared in a loving Christian home by her father, paternal grandmother, and her aunt Isabel whom she adorably referred to as momma. When Lynn was five years old, the family migrated north settling in Manhattan, New York where she continued her grammar school education and eventually graduated from Manhattan Public High School. Lynn was a lifelong learner and continued to pursue higher education receiving an AAS degree from New York City College. Lynn was joined in holy matrimony to Lenires “Lenny” Jones Jr who preceded her in death. This union was blessed with one son Lenires Jones III. Later in life Lynn was blessed with another son Darryl Jones McNeal who also preceded her in death. Lynn had a successful career in the medical field first as a lab technician at the New York Infirmary Hospital and later as the surgical unit secretary/ward clerk at Mary Immaculate Hospital where she remained until she retired at age of 70. Lynn was a friend to all she met and was always ready to offer help and advice to all who asked. In 2017 Lynn relocated to Suffolk, Virginia where she remained until she was called to her eternal home on June 3, 2021, at 1:16pm. She was preceded in death by her sister Ruth Tomlin Segars (Clarence Segars) and granddaughter Melanie Clarice Jones and several beloved uncles. Survivors include her beloved son, Lenires "Tye" Jones III, Suffolk, Virginia; grandchildren Alysson Nicole Jones of New York; Rosalyn Jenee Jones of New York; Lenires “Taft” Jones, Craig Steve Jones of New Mexico and a host of grand-nieces, nephews, family, and friends. A funeral service conducted by Chaplain Greg Boothe will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, June 12 in Loving Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel. Lynn will be laid to rest in Westminster Cemetery, Alcolu, South Carolina.
