Mike Casto

Kenney Michael “Mike” Casto passed away on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at the age 63. Mike was born to Margaret A. Young Casto and Kenney M. Casto in Portsmouth, Virginia. He was the youngest of four siblings and the only boy. Mike had a larger-than-life personality and never met a stranger. He graduated from Churchland High School in 1978 where he played center for the varsity football team. After graduation, he joined the family business Casto’s Body Shop until it closed. Mike then went through the Apprenticeship Program at Norfolk Naval Shipyard where he would remain a valued employee and instructor until his retirement. Mike was the beloved father of Heather, Nicole, and Brian, and in the past years embraced his role as Papa to Easton and very recently welcomed new granddaughter Reese. He shared his life with Angela, his partner of 19 years. They were active members of Ivor United Methodist Church. Together they enjoyed traveling, going to auctions to get great deals, and spending time with their grandson. He looked forward to attending the Casto family reunion, where he presided as auctioneer for the fundraiser and his annual snowboarding trip to Canaan, WV. Mike could be found working in his garage and yard, volunteering at his church, keeping his many lunch appointments, and caring for his feral cats. Mike is survived by: His life partner Angela Holliday His daughter Heather and husband Ian Trakowski, and his granddaughter Reese His son Brian Donovan Casto His daughter Nicole Diane Casto and fiancé Daniel His daughter Leslie and husband Ryan Brown His daughter Chrisi and husband Lee VanLear, and his grandson Easton His three sisters Melody and husband Dewey Rowe, Laura and husband Dan Lupton, Lynn and husband Fred Mullins, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors. He was preceded in Heaven by his parents Margaret and Kenney Casto. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
