Milagros Gilmore

Milagros Gilmore, aged 79, was a proud native of Luquillo, Puerto Rico. As an adult, she moved to Fajardo, Puerto Rico, where she devoted her life to raising her children, Raquel and David. In 1967, she married the love of her life, Edwin Ramon Gilmore, at the Conquistador Hotel in Puerto Rico. Sadly, Edwin passed away in 1989. In later years, Raquel and her youngest son, Christopher, returned home to live with Milagros, and together they nurtured Christopher until he graduated and moved to Virginia to pursue his nursing career. As Milagros's health began to decline, she and Raquel relocated to San Juan, Puerto Rico, to be closer to her medical team. They lived there until June 2024 when they moved to Virginia to be near Christopher and his family as her health rapidly worsened. Milagros experienced great happiness upon relocating to Virginia, where she could be near her grandson Christopher and his family. This move allowed her the cherished opportunity to witness the growth of her great-grandson, Colton. She is survived by her son and daughter, David Gilmore and Raquel Gilmore. She has four grandchildren: Jose Lopez and his wife Heidy, Alitssa Lopez-Gilmore, Christopher and his husband Layne Hancock, and Josue Gilmore. She also has five great-grandchildren: Julisa Roney, Bryan Roney Jr., Clara Maria Lopez, Ricardo Amir Lopez, and Colton Hancock, along with a host of loving family members and dear friends. Milagros departed this life on the morning of April 4th. She was a treasured mother, grandmother, and friend, renowned for her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love. Visitation: We invite family and friends to gather in celebration of her life and to share cherished memories. A visitation will take place on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Loving Funeral Home, located at 3225 Academy Ave, Portsmouth, VA 23703. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6 PM to 8 PM. Funeral Service: A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, April 11, at 1 PM at Loving Funeral Home, followed by the burial at Olive Branch Cemetery, located at 2 Cpl J M Williams Ave, Portsmouth, VA 23701. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to assist with her funeral expenses. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our hearts.
