Nellie "Jackie/Kid" Butterton Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Farwell/Kid Nellie Mae Butterton “Jackie/Kid”, 91, passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer. She devoted her life to her family. Jackie was predeceased by her husband the late Walter Gray Butterton, Sr. Left to cherish her memories are her beloved family. Her children, Cynthia C. Parker and her late husband Craig, Teresa Tamara and Kenneth J. Shea, Walter Gray Butterton, Jr. and Jeanie Butterton; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many other devoted friends and family members. She was of Dutch decent. Her direct relative Warnaar Van Hoornbeecke was from Amsterdam. Warnaar came to the province of New Netherlands (now Kingston, New York) in 1660 on the ship “The Golden Otter”. Warnaar Van Hoornbeecke’s family grew and grew and help carve out America from New York to California. Their pioneering effort made it possible for others to follow. We had our very own St. Francis of Assis. Kid had a way with wild animals. They found refuge on her property. She gave food and water to her wild visitors. She was an avid baseball fan and frequent visitor to Harbor Park with her niece Elaine Lamb and husband Barry Lamb. Every season she would watch every baseball game she could – keep records and scores. The family would like to express their gratitude and special thanks to her caregivers for their tireless efforts and devotion during the last ten years of her life; Elaine Lamb and her husband Barry; Terry Hyde and Leslie along with her caregiver group; Carol Billy; Her neighbors, Kathy and Howard Backus. Farewell Kid It’s hard to ever forget someone who gave you so much… A golden heart stopped beating Hardworking hands at rest It broke our hearts to see you go God only takes the best.
