Rosa Wright Walker

In Loving Memory of Rosa Walker On August 29, 2007, the angels visited Rosa Walker, wife of the late Hamilton Walker, Daughter of the late Fielder and Elizabeth Wright. She was the last surviving sibling of five boys and four girls. Rosa was born May 3, 1929 in Summerton, South Carolina. She received her early education in the Clarendon County Public Schools. She was a member of Spring Hill A.M.E Church. She later married the late Hamilton Walker and moved to Baltimore, Maryland. After moving to Maryland, she became a member of John?s Tabernacle Baptist Church, where she served on the senior usher board for a number of years. Mother was homemaker for many years until she retired. We were blessed and fortunate to have her so close to all of us for so long. Mother leaves to cherish three daughters: Earthly Wright; Baltimore, MD, Alfonza Pearson; Orange, N.J., Mary F. Jones; Portsmouth, VA. Rosa had one son, Albert, who preceded her in death. Two son-in-laws: Delaware Pearson and Larry D. Jones, Sr. 13 grandchildren: Jeffrey, Tyrone, Carolyn, Teresa, Evette, Dydell, Tamela, John, Larry, Tyrone, Shank, Nicole, and Melvin, who precedes her in death. 14 Great-Grandchildren; one sister-in-law, two grand-daughter-in-laws; Rosa Johnson and Toneia McCray; and a close friend, Mr. Wilson of Baltimore, M.D. Mother also had a host of nieces, nephew, cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends. Rosa was known as Rosa Granny and Granny to her grand kids. In tears we saw you sinking and watched you pass way. Our hearts were broken because we wanted you to stay. However, we saw you sleeping so peaceful, free from pain. How could we wish you back with us to suffer that again? It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone. For part of us went with you the day God called you home. Our Mother A total self-commitment Not fame nor fortune need She gave herself completely In though, in word, in deed. She never stopped to wonder On blessings she might earn But tried instead to teach us And prayed that we might learn. And now we?re older, wiser We understand much more And remember with admiration Her memory we adore. Mother gave us everything A debt we can?t repay So help me God to accept Your will And honor her in every way.
