Adelaide Iuliano Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Adelaide Wright Iuliano, formerly of the Western Branch section of Chesapeake, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was 95 years young and, though she lived a long and beautiful life, it still wasn’t enough time with her. Left to cherish her memory are her sons: John “Chip” Iuliano III (Lisa) and Ray Iuliano (Beth); six grandchildren: Jamie George (Adam), John Iuliano (Liz), Nick Iuliano (Catherine), Nathan Iuliano (Cait), Ryan Iuliano (Samantha) and Willie Viola (Andi); four great-grandchildren: Tolan, Addie, Carr, and Maris; and a host of other dear friends whom she considered family. She was predeceased by her of husband of 39 years, John W. Iuliano, Jr.; son, George ‘Buddy’ Iuliano; and special sister-in-law, Catherine ‘Kitty’ Iuliano. Adelaide was born in Norfolk County to Nonie and George Wright. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and later met, and married, Johnny. Together they opened Johnny’s Grocery (Gosport Rd., now Portsmouth Blvd.) and Abbott Auto Supply (Airline Blvd.). She was the bookkeeper for both businesses and continued that role into her eighties- working for her son Chip’s business, Area Builders of Tidewater. Adelaide was a longstanding member of Green Acres Presbyterian Church in Portsmouth. She was a voracious reader, crocheted beautiful afghans, and collected many dolls. She enjoyed playing the piano, solving all types of puzzles, Hallmark movies, and Fox News. Although she would gladly turn her programs off to focus her full attention on whomever was sitting on her couch. She was the best listener, offered wise words of advice (only if asked), and never judged. Simply put, Adelaide was the best. The best mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-in-law, and friend. She lived a beautiful life and possessed a quiet strength right up until the end. A viewing will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 13th, followed by a service at noon in the Chapel at Loving Funeral Home. The family would like to express their immense gratitude to her caretaker Sandy Turner and the ICU staff at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital.
