Elisabeth Darden Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Elisabeth Darden, 90, of Chesapeake, VA passed away at home on June 23, 2022, with her children by her side. Elisabeth was born in Otterberg, Germany. She came to the United States with her husband, the late Air Force Master Sergeant Joseph Dennyson Darden (a Portsmouth native) for the first time in 1957. They traveled throughout the US and Germany until retiring in Chesapeake in 1973. Elisabeth was well known in the Churchland area during her decades spent as the Farm Fresh early morning “express line lady.” She loved gardening and making silk flower wreaths and arrangements which she sold through local businesses. Remaining to cherish Elisabeth’s memory are her son Will Darden, daughter Susan Darden and loyal canine companion PeeWee (all of Chesapeake). Granddaughter Sarah Coulter Sharpless (Matt), great grandchildren Cecilia, Archer, Nolan, and Bennett Sharpless (all of Appleton, Wisconsin). Elisabeth’s extended family in Germany includes many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Will and Susan Darden would like to express their gratitude for all of the cards, calls, lovingly prepared meals, personal favors and prayers provided by so many. Special thanks to Corrine Dempsey, Janet Monday, the Westhaven Baptist Church Faith in Action Committee, Chesapeake EMTs and the wonderful neighbors on Hemlock Drive.
