Maribeth Jones Fly

Maribeth Fly, 65, of Chesapeake, Virginia, passed away unexpectedly on March 1st, 2022. Maribeth was born to Floyd and Marilou Jones in Norfolk, Virginia. She married AC Fly Jr. in December 1987 in the Washington D.C. Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and enjoyed 35 years of marriage together. Maribeth was a devoted mother to her two children and a beloved “Mimi” to her three grandchildren. She never missed either of her kids’ soccer games. She could always be found cheering from the stands as her daughter Adrienne played goalie for her high school field hockey team. She was always there to encourage her son Austin as a member of the high school ROTC. She was especially supportive of her children’s education, searching out the right schools and acting as a teacher herself. Once grandchildren began to arrive, she was the first to come help out and share her love. Her grandkids always looked forward to a visit with “Mimi”. Whenever she was not with family, she enjoyed crocheting and reading. Maribeth was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. With a firm testimony of her Savior, she knew that her family could be together forever and lived her life in accordance with gospel principles. She regularly attended her ward and served faithfully in the many callings she received. Maribeth worked for many years as a medical scribe and transcriptionist. She was well respected in her field and taught many others how to pursue similar careers. She is remembered by friends and family for her thoughtfulness, patience, and selfless attitude. Maribeth is survived by her husband AC, her sister Willow, her children Austin (Erica) and Adrienne (Garrett), and her three grandchildren Evelyn, Griffin, and Diana. She was predeceased by her parents. A memorial open house was held at her home on March 12th, 2022. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Diabetes Association.
