Mary Frances Rose

Mary Frances Rose, 85, passed away surrounded by her loving family in the comfort of her home on September 30, 2017. She was the daughter of the late Irving M. Malcolm and Mattie E. Malcolm. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Owen C. Rose, Sr. and Myron “Johnnie” McVicker whom she always considered her brother. Mary is survived by her children, Todd Rose (Sandy) of Carrsville, Owen “Pnut” Rose, Jr. of Portsmouth and Beth Fulgham (Jim) of Norfolk; her grandchildren, Nicholas Key, Kristina Canfield (Brandon), Kendall Irving (Seth), Jennifer Stence (Phillip), Ashley Rose, Melissa Pierce (Alan), and Jason Bailey; her 14 great grandchildren, Elanor, Jeremiah, Hana, Terah, Ian, Pippa, Phillip II, Penelope, Shylah, Micah, Lokelani, Carson, Kayden and Scarlett. She is also survived by her niece, Diana Pieroni and her family, Ed, Brian and Jamie. And of course, her special grand dogs, Willie, Lola and Lex. Mary graduated from the Portsmouth Public School System. She worked as a bookkeeper for many years finally retiring from Guardian Federal Credit Union as a branch manager at the 5th District Coast Guard Base in Portsmouth. Mary was a lifetime member, 69 years, Supreme Pythian Sisters of Portsmouth Temple 4 in Portsmouth. She was a Past Supreme Representative having served at the local, state and national levels for her beloved order. She was also a member of Westhaven Baptist Church for the last several years and truly enjoyed attending service in the neighborhood in which she was raised. There will be a visitation on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, from 6-8 pm at Loving Funeral Home, 3225 Academy Ave., Portsmouth, Va. A funeral service will be held at 1 pm Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at the funeral home with Pastor Rick Hudock, officiating. Burial will follow at Churchland Baptist Church Cemetery. The family is also receiving visitors in her home.
