Jo Ann Owens Eure

Jo Ann Owens Eure, 81, passed away surrounded by her family on April 18, 2026. She was born in Portsmouth Virginia. Jo Ann lived a life marked by strength, generosity, and a deep love for those around her. Jo Ann was proceeded in death by her husband, Thomas M. Eure as well as her mother Margaret J. Owens and her father Edwin Watts Owens. To know, Jo Ann is to know love in it’s purest form. She was feisty in the best way, strong through every season and endlessly kind. She had a heart that welcomed everyone, never meeting a stranger and always willing to help anyone in need. She found joy in the simple things-time spent at the beach, moments with family, and especially in her most treasured role as Nana. Being a grandmother was her greatest joy she adored her grandbabies, Melissa, Chris, Justin, and her great grandson Elias and loved creating memories filled with laughter, warmth, and unconditional love she also held that special place in her heart for her dogs, Rockwell Abernathy Fairchild the fourth, Rockwell Abernathy Fairchild the fifth, shu shu, Herman Schultz, Lucy Mildred, Lucky Patrick Shamrock, Schultz, Misty, Susie, Bailey James and her grand dogs, Molly and Max. She leaves behind a family who will cherish her memory forever, her daughter Tammy, her son Eddie, her granddaughter Melissa, her grandsons Chris and Justin, her great grandson Elias as well as extended family and dear friends whose life she’s touched deeply. Jo Ann's life was a reflection of love, Strong, faithful and enduring while her presence is missed her family finds comfort and the promise of eternal life and the hope of reunion as it is written in John 14:2-3 “in my father’s house are many room rooms. I go to prepare a place for you. That’s where I am there you may be also.” We take peace in knowing she is now reunited with her beloved mother and father and resting in the presence of the Lord. Services will be held at loving Funeral Home in Portsmouth, Virginia on Friday, April 24 from 5 PM to 630 for visitation and celebration of life will be on Saturday, April 25 at 1 PM in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Portsmouth Humane Society as her first dog Rocky was adopted from there.
