John Dominic Oare

John Dominic Oare, 85, was born in Gloversville, NY, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2023. He leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and craftsmanship. John is survived by his cherished children: Michael Oare (Chris), Carolyn Strek (Jeff), Amy Oare (Steve Gore), and Kathy Dellinger (Jason Bateman). His enduring love was also shared with his long-time partner, MaryLou Ford, and her daughters: Michelle Parrish (Christopher), Marsha Bell (David), and Monica Walker (Patrick). His pride and joy extended to his 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. John was one of ten children survived by: Gloria Hawver (Bob), Marilyn Fredericks (Earl), Phyllis Oare, Paul Oare (Lori), and Ruth Oare, and leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Alton and Lorena Oare, and siblings: Ethel Ambrosino (Joseph, Sr.), Raymond Oare, Jean Wohlgemuth, James Oare (Karen), and Mary Smith (Donald). An alumnus of DeVry Institute in Chicago, IL, John pursued his interest in radio and television electronics. His dedication to his craft led him to a distinguished career at General Electric, where he rose to the position of manufacturing engineer. He served at GE's Syracuse, NY plant, Portsmouth, VA plant, and their facility in Singapore. Following his long tenure at GE, John co-founded Transworld Connections in Lynchburg, VA, where he donned the hat of Chief Financial Officer. In his later years, his attention to detail was evident as he took on the role of bookkeeper at Dellinger's Tire and Auto Center in Portsmouth, VA. Beyond his professional accomplishments, John was an unwavering pillar of his family. The shores of the Great Sacandaga Lake in Mayfield, NY often echoed with the laughter and stories of the Oare clan during their cherished family vacations. A craftsman at heart, John's adeptness spanned carpentry, electronics, plumbing, roofing, and drafting. His collaborative endeavors with his son, Michael, in designing and building home projects stand as a testament to his skill and passion. John Dominic Oare will be remembered not only for his professional acumen but also for the love, warmth, and dedication he brought to every facet of his life. His absence leaves a void, but his legacy of love and craftsmanship will forever resonate within the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor, details of which will be shared with family and friends in due course.
